
At least 25 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists were reportedly killed when troops repelled a coordinated attack in Kukawa, Borno State.
The terrorists attacked troops of the 101 Special Forces Battalion from four different directions, but the soldiers responded with heavy firepower and tactical manoeuvres.
The operation was supported by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, forcing the surviving terrorists to flee the area.
According to the military, more than 25 terrorists were neutralised, while 14 bodies have so far been recovered.
Troops also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition during the operation, including six AK-47 rifles.

The military said further operations were ongoing to recover more weapons, track the fleeing terrorists and prevent them from regrouping.
Some soldiers were also killed during the encounter.
The military expressed condolences to the families of the fallen personnel, praising their courage and sacrifice in the fight against terrorism.
