Folarin Balogun has won his second consecutive Man of the Match award at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after another standout performance for the United States.
The Nigerian-American striker played a key role on Friday as the US Men’s National Team defeated Australia 2-0 to book a place in the knockout stage.

Balogun forced the opening goal in the 11th minute when his pressure on Australian defenders led to an own goal by Cameron Burgess. His movement, hold-up play, and link-up with teammates helped the co-hosts control possession and dictate the game, even without injured star Christian Pulisic.
The award follows his World Cup debut against Paraguay where he scored twice in a 4-1 win. That brace made him the first American to score two goals in a World Cup match since 1930 and earned him his first Man of the Match honour.
Born in New York to Nigerian parents and raised in England, Balogun chose to represent the United States internationally after being eligible for England, Nigeria, and the US.
