
A 17-year-old Senior Secondary School 3 student, Hassan Ahmadu, of Government Science and Technical College (GSTC), Potiskum, Yobe State, has tragically died following an alleged bullying incident by classmates.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, and preliminary reports suggest that Hassan had been subjected to repeated harassment and physical assault by some fellow students in the weeks leading up to his death.
On the day of the tragedy, he reportedly confronted the bullies, asking them to stop, but was allegedly attacked, leaving him with injuries that proved fatal.

Hassan was buried the same day in his hometown of Gadaka, Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Yobe State Police spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident and stated that police investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
Some students suspected to be involved in the incident have reportedly been handed over to authorities.
A teacher, speaking on condition of anonymity, emphasized the need for stricter measures against bullying in schools, while the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Abba Idriss Adam, has promised to provide updates as investigations proceed.
This tragic incident has renewed calls for heightened protection for students in schools across Yobe State, highlighting the dangers of unchecked bullying and peer harassment.
