The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy, identified as Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki, Oyo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday.
According to the police, the incident came to light on September 17, 2026, after a distress report was made at the Saki Divisional Police Station following the disappearance of the child.
The command said a search was launched, leading to the discovery of the girl by the roadside in a distressed condition.
Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that the suspect had allegedly taken the child into his apartment, where the offence was said to have occurred.
Police detectives subsequently secured the location and arrested the suspect. Officers also recovered physical evidence believed to be connected to the alleged offence.

The child was taken to a medical facility in Saki, where she is receiving medical treatment and psychological support.
The police said the case had been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution.
The command also assured the public that the identity and privacy of the child and her family would be protected throughout the investigation in line with child protection laws.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases of child abuse, sexual violence or other offences against vulnerable persons to the nearest police station.
