Villagers Flee in Terror Following Bello Turji’s Latest Threat

Panic has swept through several villages in Sokoto State as residents flee after notorious bandit leader Bello Turji issued a fresh threat against communities in the region.

According to local sources, the warning demanded compliance with Turji’s directives, and any resistance would be met with violence.


Villagers in areas including Tidibale, Gidan Hamisu, and nearby settlements reportedly abandoned their homes overnight, leaving behind farms, livestock.

Families fled under the cover of darkness, seeking refuge in neighbouring towns and makeshift camps, heightening concerns over humanitarian needs.


The renewed threats come amid growing insecurity in eastern Sokoto, where Turji’s faction has been blamed for repeated attacks, kidnappings, and extortion.

Displaced residents described scenes of fear and confusion, saying that survival now takes priority over livelihoods.


Security officials have yet to release an official statement, leaving communities vulnerable and anxious about further attacks.

Observers warn that without swift intervention, displacement and hardship are likely to worsen in the affected areas.
