
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two suspects in Ilorin, Kwara State, for allegedly defrauding job seekers of over ₦2.9 million.
The suspects, Bolaji Kazeem Akinwunmi, popularly known as “Bolaji Original,” and his former lover and accomplice, Kemisola Mary Akinbo, were apprehended by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the anti-graft agency.
According to a statement by the EFCC on its X handle on Tuesday, Akinwunmi allegedly collected ₦2,921,700 from unsuspecting victims, claiming he could secure employment for them.

“Investigations revealed that Akinwunmi, at different times, posed as an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service, falsely claiming he had access to employment slots for interested applicants,” the statement read.
The EFCC did not disclose the total number of victims, but said investigations are ongoing.
This arrest follows another recent operation in Ilorin, where the EFCC apprehended Kofoworola Kolawole, a company representative, over alleged fraud involving ₦993,247,796.70.
Kolawole reportedly colluded with two company directors to fraudulently obtain the funds under the guise of facilitating a foreign exchange transaction.
