The Ogun State Police Command has concluded plans to arrest and prosecute a TikTok user identified as Mirabel after she allegedly admitted that her earlier claim of rape was false.
According to police sources, Mirabel admitted during a recorded phone conversation with social media personality VeryDarkMan that she fabricated key parts of her story.
In the audio, which later circulated on social media, she reportedly confessed that some of the messages she presented as threats from her alleged attacker were not genuine.
She further admitted that she created the threatening TikTok account herself in order to make her claim appear more credible.
During the conversation, she apologised after being confronted with evidence that contradicted her initial account.
Mirabel also reportedly told the caller that she had been under the influence of drugs and was not thinking clearly when she posted the videos accusing a stranger of breaking into her apartment and raping her in the Ogijo area of Ogun State.

A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said senior officers, including a Divisional Police Officer, were at the hospital where Mirabel was receiving treatment.
The source added that she would be taken into custody upon discharge and charged in court.
“Once she is discharged, she will be taken into custody, and a charge will be prepared against her for trial.
The aim is to serve as a deterrent to others,” the source said.
The allegation, which Mirabel shared on TikTok, had earlier sparked widespread public outrage, with many Nigerians calling for swift action against sexual violence.
In a statement, the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said the Commissioner of Police directed the Divisional Police Officer of the Ibafo Division to immediately reach out to Mirabel after the report surfaced.
She said Mirabel reported at the Ibafo Police Station and was later escorted to a medical facility for assessment and urgent medical attention.
She added that due to Mirabel’s fragile condition, she was referred for further medical care to aid her recovery and support the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency disclosed that it had contacted a close friend of Mirabel, who confirmed she had been discharged from the hospital.
The agency clarified that the alleged incident occurred in Ogun State and was outside its jurisdiction, noting that relevant information had been forwarded to the appropriate authorities.
When contacted for further comments, the police said the command was still reviewing the matter and would issue an official update in due course.
