Popular Nigerian actor, Victor Udochukwu Nwaogu, widely known as Nkubi, has revealed that repeated job rejections due to his physique played a major role in his decision to pursue a career in acting.
Speaking on a recent episode of the One On One podcast alongside his wife, Nkubi opened up about the challenges he faced growing up as a little person and how discrimination shaped his journey.
According to him, he was not fully aware of the extent of societal bias until after completing his secondary education.
While his peers secured minor jobs with relative ease, he struggled to get employed despite his efforts.
“As a child, you know you are different, but you don’t really understand your reality,” he said.

“It hit me after secondary school when I couldn’t secure even minor jobs like others. That was when I truly felt it.”
Nkubi explained that the constant rejection forced him to rethink his path, eventually leading him into the entertainment industry, where he has since built a successful career and become a household name.
The actor also shared that the stigma has extended beyond him, revealing that his daughter has become a target of online trolls who make hurtful comments about her size.
He noted that he and his wife were aware of the possibility of having a child with dwarfism and were emotionally prepared for it.
His wife, however, admitted that despite their preparation, the hurtful remarks from trolls still affect them. She disclosed that at one point, a doctor advised her to get pregnant by another man to avoid having a child with dwarfism — a suggestion she firmly rejected.
Despite the challenges, the couple emphasized their commitment to standing strong against stigma and raising their daughter with confidence and love.
