Police operatives in Kano State have stopped promoters of the “Tinubu Must Go” campaign from holding a meeting at a private event centre in the Badawa area of the state.
The meeting was scheduled to take place at The Avenue Event Centre along Murtala Muhammed Way, but security operatives reportedly blocked access to the venue.
One of the conveners, Abba Hikima, condemned the action, insisting that the group had the constitutional right to assemble and educate its members on rejecting President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the 2027 general election.

However, Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, said the command’s concerns were based on security considerations, particularly reports that about 700 people were expected to attend the gathering.
Bakori maintained that the police had no intention of suppressing the group’s freedom of expression but stressed that advance notification would help the command make adequate security arrangements and prevent a breakdown of law and order.
Hikima vowed that the group would return to hold its meeting and organise demonstrations.
