
The Gombe State Police Command has successfully rescued an eight-year-old boy who was abducted in Akko Local Government Area, arresting four suspects allegedly linked to the crime.
The child was found unharmed during an intelligence-led operation and has since been reunited with his family. Authorities confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident was reported on June 28 by the boy’s father, Muhammadu Nabadara, after the child left home around 6:30 a.m. on June 27 and failed to return.
Following the report, detectives immediately launched a coordinated investigation and intensified efforts to locate the missing child. On June 29, the family received a phone call from an unidentified individual claiming to know the child’s whereabouts; however, police later confirmed the information to be false.

A major breakthrough came on June 30 when operatives arrested the first suspect, Abdullahi Mohammed, in Kumo, Akko LGA. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to collaborating with three others identified as Mohammed Magaji (35), Sale Sale (23), and Walida Ya’u (18)—to carry out the abduction.
The remaining suspects were subsequently apprehended, and the victim was rescued from their custody.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, CP Umar Chuso, praised their professionalism, swift response, and dedication.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to aid the fight against crime.
