The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two young men over the alleged armed robbery and killing of the wife of a serving police officer in Gombe.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Bashir Sale, also known as “Full,” and 18-year-old Musa Sale Ahmad, alias “Abba,” were arrested on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The incident reportedly occurred around 4:35 am at Wuro Shie Quarters, where the suspects allegedly attacked the residence of Inspector Salisu Waziri, a police officer attached to the Safer Highway Patrol.
According to the police, the attackers, armed with machetes and cutlasses, attempted to steal the mobile phone of Waziri’s wife, Mrs Aishatu Salisu.
The victim reportedly raised an alarm during the attack, prompting one of the assailants to stab her with a machete before the attackers fled the area, leaving the phone behind.
Police officers from the Pantami Divisional Patrol Team responded to the report and rushed the injured woman to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where she was later pronounced dead.
Following the incident, the police launched an investigation and intensified efforts to identify those responsible.
The two suspects, who are residents of Wuro Shie Quarters, were subsequently arrested in connection with the case.

The police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects confessed to their alleged involvement in the crime. A sharp knife was also recovered as an exhibit.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Ahmed Chuso, ordered a thorough investigation and directed that anyone found culpable should face the law.
The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the nearest police station.
