
Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have apprehended two suspected vandals accused of looting items from a truck involved in an accident along the Calabar–Itu Highway.
The incident occurred at Afaha community, where the truck reportedly veered off the road and fell into a valley.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, officers acted swiftly on credible intelligence around 10 p.m. on May 10, 2026, leading to the arrest of one of the suspects at the scene.

The first suspect, identified as 19-year-old Adamu Hamza, a native of Maiduguri, Borno State, was found in possession of four truck tyres believed to have been stolen from the accident site.
Further investigation by the police led to the arrest of a second suspect, Anthony James, a tricycle operator allegedly used to transport the stolen items away from the scene.
