The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspects allegedly linked to a syndicate involved in the hijacking, diversion and theft of vehicles in Oyo and Kwara States.
The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence received by the command, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.
The police said operatives of the Vehicle and Cargo Recovery Unit (VCRU) intercepted a white SINO HOWO truck and arrested two suspects identified as Ojedokun Olakunle Isaac, a motor boy attached to the truck driver, and his alleged accomplice, Ajuwon Ismail.
According to the command, the truck had already been stripped of its rear body or bucket when it was intercepted. It was allegedly being driven towards the Ogbomoso–Ilorin axis, where the removed truck body was reportedly intended for delivery and sale to a suspected receiver.

Police said information obtained from one of the arrested suspects led investigators to two other alleged members of the syndicate, identified as Adekunle Sunday and Rasheed, who were subsequently arrested.
The command stated that efforts are ongoing to recover the detached rear body of the truck and apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate who remain at large.
The police also said the group had allegedly been terrorising residents and motorists across parts of Oyo and Kwara States.
Authorities assured the public that investigations would continue until all those connected to the alleged criminal operation are brought to justice.
