
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old suspect, identified as Saihanu Ahmad, in connection with an armed robbery incident at an off-campus student lodge of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafi’u Habib.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on April 5, 2026, when two armed men reportedly stormed the students’ residence and carted away several valuable items, including mobile phones and a laptop.
Four students later reported the attack at the ‘E’ Division Police Station in Yalwa, detailing how the suspects carried out the operation and escaped with their belongings.
Items reported stolen include an iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, Redmi A3, Tecno Spark 40, Samsung A23, Samsung A23 Plus, Tecno Pop 10, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and a Samsung laptop.
Habib disclosed that one of the stolen devices, a Redmi A3 smartphone, has been recovered from the arrested suspect.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
He commended the detectives for their swift response and urged members of the public to support law enforcement agencies with credible information to aid ongoing investigations.
“The suspect is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing. He will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the statement added.
The police further assured residents of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state, noting that patrols and surveillance have been intensified in the area to prevent similar occurrences.
Students residing off-campus were also advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
