Police Inspector has been killed by gunmen that attacked quarry workers at Ihievbe-Ogben in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Besides, it was gathered that one other police officer (orderly) and an expatriate working with the company also sustained various degree of injuries during the attack.
The incident reportedly occurred last Thursday when the gunmen ambushed the workers while going to their base camp in the evening and opened fire on them.
It was learnt that in the process, the Police Inspector, whose identity is yet unknown died while one other officer and an expatriate sustained various degrees of injuries.
The injured expatriate and the police officer are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Confirming the incident, Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr Moses Yamu, said, “Investigation into the incident is ongoing alongside efforts in collaboration with the Military to apprehend the suspects is in progress”.
