
A fire outbreak has destroyed properties worth millions of naira in two separate incidents in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incidents, which occurred on Sunday, affected a residential building and a shop in different parts of the city.
The first fire involved a five-bedroom flat located beside C.A.C Oke-Ayo, Idi-Obi Junction in the Agugu area of Ibadan. According to reports, the building was already engulfed in flames and thick smoke when firefighters arrived at the scene.
Confirming the incident, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, stated that emergency responders acted swiftly to contain the situation and prevent further damage.
“On getting there, it was a five-bedroom flat at the upper floor of a storey residential building well alight and covered with thick smoke.

We swiftly got into action and restricted the fire from gaining momentum,” he said.
In a separate incident, a prefabricated shop located at No. C12, Ajomole Compound, Olukoyi Street, Oja Oba area of Ibadan, was also gutted by fire.
Akinwande noted that fire service personnel responded promptly, successfully preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby shops.
“Upon arrival, we met the shop well alight and covered with thick smoke. Our officers quickly launched a coordinated attack and restricted the fire from spreading to other shops,” he added.
No casualties were recorded in either incident, though properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
