Feminism’s original purpose deviated

Actor Jim Iyke has described modern feminism as a movement that has deviated from its original purpose and now borders on being “a crime.”

Iyke, in an interview on Echo room, said that early feminist movements were crucial in addressing issues like patriarchy and gender imbalance, but the current iteration has been distorted.

According to Iyke, modern feminism was strategically marketed, potentially by a women’s magazine, as a way to sell ideas to women who felt marginalised.

This campaign, he claims, has mutated into a mindset that encourages women to reject men and promotes unnecessary competition between the sexes.

He said, “I call it a crime, an assault of sorts, the perpetrators of this… obviously, I would not name the magazine… came out with a brilliant campaign to push more papers. Who were their chief readers? Women. So they devised an ideology that allowed women to challenge the status quo and compete with men in the same space.”

“This was a campaign that went overboard, and certain women bought into the ideology and made it their own.

“They decided that this whole ideology of ‘we do not need a man, anything a man can do we can do better’… escalated, and blew it out of proportion. Now it has been adopted as a way of living, as a new cultural standard.”

Iyke criticises the double standards within modern feminism, arguing that it promotes a flawed approach to gender dynamics.

According to him, instead of striving for natural balance, the movement encourages women to compete with men, rather than working together in harmony.

Iyke added that people should embrace their natural, God-given roles, allowing for a more balanced and harmonious relationship between men and women.

“The double standard of it all is what makes me question the ideology in the first place. Do you not understand the fallacy, the falsehood of it? The two-faced approach to it? You can only be in your natural God-given [role], and the men stay [in theirs], so that when you come together, it blends and becomes one. That is what they are yet to understand.”
