The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Precious Joseph for allegedly impersonating a police inspector and possessing several security-related items without authorization.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the suspect was intercepted on July 5, 2026, during a routine stop-and-search operation along Atiku Abubakar Way in Uyo. Officers stopped him while he was riding an unregistered motorcycle.
During questioning, Joseph allegedly introduced himself as an Inspector of Police and presented a police warrant card bearing the name “Inspector Daniel.” His responses reportedly raised suspicion, prompting officers to conduct a more detailed search.
Police said the search uncovered another identity card belonging to the Nigerian Correctional Service, further deepening suspicions that the suspect had been posing as a security operative.
