Egyptian international goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy has been handed a four-match suspension and fined after clashing with a referee following a league match involving his club.
The incident occurred after Al Ahly SC were held to a 1–1 draw by Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian Pro League. El-Shenawy, who was an unused substitute during the encounter, reacted angrily to a late decision in stoppage time when his side were denied a penalty for a suspected handball.
According to reports, tensions escalated after the final whistle, leading to a confrontation between the experienced goalkeeper and a match official.
In a statement issued on Friday, league authorities confirmed the disciplinary action, stating that El-Shenawy would serve a four-match ban and pay a fine of 50,000 Egyptian pounds for physically confronting the referee by pushing or pulling without violent conduct.
