
Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have apprehended a 45-year-old ex-convict, Owen Osas, over alleged involvement in armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The suspect was arrested on May 3 during a covert security operation along Fishpond Road in Eyean, located in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State.
At the time of his arrest, Osas was reportedly found with a cut-to-size single-barrel gun.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted affiliation with the notorious Eiye Confraternity.
His arrest comes less than a year after he was released from prison, where he had served time for similar offences, including illegal possession of firearms.

A robbery victim, Reginia Izy, identified Osas as the individual who allegedly attacked her a day prior to his arrest. According to her account, the suspect approached her residence around 8 p.m., pretending to be familiar before carrying out the robbery.
Speaking on the development, the Deputy Commander of Operations of the Edo State Security Corps, Richard Balogun, stated that the arrest reflects ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
He explained that operatives employ both overt patrols and covert strategies, including plainclothes surveillance, to track and apprehend suspects.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security operations across the state and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
