The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the recent attack on Peter Obi in Benin, Edo State.
The incident occurred last week when Yunusa Tanko, national coordinator of the Obidient movement, reported that Obi and other African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftains were attacked at the residence of party leader John Odigie-Oyegun.
Olumide Akpata, Labour Party candidate in the 2024 Edo governorship election, added that his cousin sustained a head injury from a bottle during the attack.
Shortly after, a man identified as Udeme Stephen allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack on his X account (@stevetom788) and issued further threats against Obi, warning that the politician would not be safe during future visits, including an upcoming trip to Rivers State.
