Delta Police nab Man for Allegedly Stabbing Sleeping Brother to Death

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his brother to death while he was asleep in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.

The incident reportedly occurred on January 8 along Poly Road, near Adaigbo Filling Station. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest, stating that detectives from the Ogwashi-Uku Division were immediately deployed to the scene after the report was received.

According to Edafe, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was allegedly stabbed by his younger brother, identified as Aliyu Haman, 20. The suspect was arrested, and the weapon allegedly used in the attack was recovered.

The body of the deceased has been evacuated and deposited at the Odua Mortuary in Ogwashi-Uku for autopsy, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

In a separate operation, operatives of the Raiders Unit of the Delta State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a 43-year-old man, Obi Onuigbi Ndubuoso, on January 8, 2026, for alleged possession of illicit substances. The operation, supervised by the unit’s commander, SP Akanya Agbogha, led to the recovery of 36 bottles of drugs popularly referred to as “laughing gas.” The suspect and exhibits are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to trace supply and distribution networks.

Similarly, the Agbor Division of the command arrested two suspected armed robbers believed to specialise in motorcycle snatching within Agbor and its environs. The suspects, identified as Owakwe Chuks, 37, and Bright Moses, 32, were apprehended on January 4, 2026, following a discreet investigation into a robbery incident reported on December 24, 2025.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include a hammer allegedly used to attack victims, a short knife, a brown face mask, a handset, and a face cap.

In another development, operatives of the Ekpan Division, during a confidence-building patrol along Hausa Market in Ubeji, arrested one Gift Ojulowo, 30, after he attempted to flee alongside other suspected hoodlums. A locally fabricated gun and two live cartridges were recovered from him.

Edafe disclosed that the suspect confessed during interrogation to being a member of the Aye cult group. He added that efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.

The police spokesperson noted that the series of arrests followed the assumption of duty of the new Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aina Adesola. Reacting to the developments, CP Adesola reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents that the police would continue to tackle crime through intelligence-led operations and visible policing.
