Nigerian singer, Joeboy, has said that it has become increasingly difficult for new artistes to break into the mainstream music scene compared to previous years.
Speaking during a recent interview, the Afrobeats star explained that while the digital age has made it easier for musicians to release their songs, gaining widespread recognition and acceptance has become more challenging due to intense competition in the industry.
According to the “Baby” crooner, thousands of songs are released across streaming platforms daily, making it harder for upcoming artistes to stand out or capture the attention of listeners.
Joeboy noted that the rise of social media and digital streaming platforms has created opportunities for independent artistes, but it has also led to a saturated market where only a few songs eventually gain mainstream popularity.

The singer added that beyond talent, artistes now need strong marketing strategies, consistency and a supportive team to successfully break into the highly competitive music space.
He encouraged upcoming musicians to remain patient and persistent, stressing that building a solid fan base and unique sound can help them overcome the challenges of entering the industry.
Joeboy, who gained prominence after releasing his breakout single “Baby” under the mentorship of Mr Eazi’s record label, said the music landscape continues to evolve, making adaptability an important quality for any aspiring artiste hoping to succeed.
