Amnesty International Nigeria has raised a fresh alarm over the worsening crisis of child abductions and insecurity across the country, calling on President Bola Tinubu to take immediate and decisive action to rescue children still held in captivity.
The appeal comes as Nigeria joined the rest of the continent in commemorating the International Day of the African Child a day that instead of celebration, highlighted the painful reality of thousands of children missing from classrooms due to violence, conflict, and kidnappings.

In a strongly worded statement, the rights group painted a grim picture of “empty chairs” in schools across states such as Ogun, Kwara, Kogi, Borno, and Oyo—symbolizing lives disrupted and dreams put on hold.
