The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old hospital cleaner for allegedly stealing a vehicle belonging to a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
The suspect, identified as Mohammed Dan-Azumi, was apprehended following a coordinated operation by security operatives after the incident was reported.
According to police sources, the suspect worked at Girei Cottage Hospital, where the vehicle owner—a corps member serving as a medical doctor—is posted.
The doctor had reportedly entrusted his car, a 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport valued at approximately ₦18 million, to the suspect for washing.

However, the suspect allegedly absconded with the vehicle to an unknown destination.
Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed that operatives of the State Intelligence Department in Yola launched an intelligence-led investigation, which led to the tracking and arrest of the suspect in Kano State.
The stolen vehicle was successfully recovered during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabiru Hassan, commended the officers involved for their swift and professional response.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crime and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
The police added that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion.
