Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) lacks a seasoned, resourceful and focused political strategist comparable to President Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Baba-Ahmed made the remark during an appearance on Channels Television, where he questioned the strength and sustainability of the ADC’s political structure.
According to him, the party does not have a unifying figure with the experience, resilience and strategic depth required to manage internal rivalries and build a formidable national coalition.
He argued that many of the politicians currently aligning with the ADC were part of the political class that formed the All Progressives Congress (APC) and later became dissatisfied after failing to secure elective positions or appointments.

Baba-Ahmed suggested that such grievances, rather than ideology or national interest, were driving the new political alignment.
The former vice-presidential candidate warned that the ADC could face internal crises if its primary elections do not favour key figures within the party, noting that the absence of a dominant political leader could weaken party cohesion.
While clarifying that he was not endorsing Tinubu, Baba-Ahmed acknowledged the president as a determined and strategic politician capable of building loyalty and maintaining control within a complex political structure a quality he said is currently missing in the ADC.
He further cautioned Nigerians against what he described as the rebranding of old political actors under new party platforms, urging voters to critically assess political alliances and promises as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
