At least 68 African nationals, including 42 Nigerians, have been deported from Ghana’s Ashanti Region following rulings by various courts over alleged prostitution, fraud, and other related offences.
The development was disclosed in a Facebook post on Thursday, December 18, 2025, by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene.
According to him, those deported include 42 Nigerians, 13 Cameroonian nationals, three Ivorian nationals, three Burkinabe nationals, and seven Benin nationals, all affected by separate court decisions in the region.
Amoakohene disclosed that a total of 42 Nigerians, 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals and seven Beninese nationals were deported from Ghana’s Ashanti Region to their respective countries after being found culpable by various courts over offences linked to Q-Net operations, prostitution and other criminal activities.
He praised the Ghana Immigration Service for its professionalism and diligence, noting that the agency demonstrated a firm commitment to enforcing immigration laws while strictly observing due process and respect for human dignity.
By working closely with the courts and other security agencies, they continue to enhance public safety, safeguard vulnerable individuals, and maintain law and order in the region.”
The deportation of Nigerians comes amid increasing reports of heightened scrutiny and mass arrests of Nigerians abroad.
In late November, at least 50 Nigerians were detained during one of India’s largest coordinated crackdowns on a transnational narcotics network.
The suspects were allegedly linked to an extensive drug distribution and hawala money-laundering syndicate operating across several major Indian cities.
The operation, led by the Delhi Police in collaboration with the Telangana Police’s EAGLE unit, followed months of intelligence gathering and culminated in simultaneous raids across Delhi.
Authorities were able to dismantle key segments of a cartel involved in trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine throughout India.
