The Nasarawa State Police Command has detained two officers allegedly involved in a misconduct incident captured in a viral video, while the inspector leading the investigation has reportedly died.
The Police Complaint Response Unit (CRU) disclosed this in an update on Thursday, November 5, 2026, following efforts to identify and question the officers involved in the incident at the Ado Area Command.
According to the unit, the officers were summoned to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday to provide explanations regarding their alleged conduct.
However, only two of the officers appeared for questioning, following the reported death of the investigation team leader, Inspector Sani Mikailu, who allegedly died two days earlier.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

The CRU confirmed that the two officers who reported for questioning had been detained pending the conclusion of the investigation and further directives from the Inspector-General of Police.
It added that the investigation was still ongoing and that its findings and recommendations would be forwarded to the IGP for consideration as soon as practicable.
The development comes amid renewed concerns over allegations of police brutality and abuse of power in Nasarawa State.
Meanwhile, questions remain over the circumstances surrounding Inspector Mikailu’s death and the specific allegations against the detained officers.
The ongoing investigation is expected to establish the individual roles of the officers involved and provide further clarity on the incident.
