Two sons of a Nigerian Air Force officer have reportedly spent nine weeks in kidnappers’ captivity in Kaduna State, as their abductors have allegedly demanded an additional ₦200 million ransom despite already collecting ₦26 million and 25 mobile phones from the family.
The children, identified as Derrick, 13, and Damian, 12, were reportedly abducted from their family residence in Rimi, Kamazou, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on August 30, 2026, when armed men invaded their home at night.
Their mother, Tina Daniel Dominic, disclosed that the family has exhausted its financial resources in efforts to secure the children’s freedom.
According to her account, the kidnappers initially demanded ₦500 million before reducing their ransom request to ₦100 million and eventually ₦20 million.
Desperate to secure their sons’ release, the family reportedly sold their vehicles and other valuable possessions to raise the ₦20 million demanded by the abductors.
However, rather than releasing the children after receiving the money, the kidnappers allegedly claimed that ₦1.3 million was missing from the payment and continued making additional financial demands.
The abductors subsequently demanded another ₦6 million, assuring the family that the children would be released once the payment was made.
The mother said the family complied with the demand and also provided the kidnappers with 25 mobile phones, but the children remained in captivity.
In a fresh development, the kidnappers reportedly contacted the family on October 29, demanding another ₦200 million. They allegedly claimed that the children’s father, who serves in the Nigerian Air Force, had sent people to their camp.

The family said it could not afford the new demand, having already sold its belongings and exhausted available resources.
Recounting the incident, Mrs Dominic explained that the gunmen invaded their home while her husband was away on official duty. She said she attempted to hide her three children in the kitchen pantry, but the attackers discovered two of her sons and took them away.
She was reportedly forced to walk through the bush with the abductors and the children for about two hours before the kidnappers allowed her to return home because of her deteriorating physical condition.
The distraught mother also raised concerns about Damian’s health, revealing that the 12-year-old underwent major surgery about two years ago and was scheduled for a hospital check-up shortly before his abduction.
Appealing to the Federal Government and the Kaduna State Government, she urged relevant authorities and security agencies to intervene urgently and facilitate the safe rescue of her children.
She lamented that despite repeatedly raising the alarm on social media and tagging President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, the family had yet to receive the assistance it desperately needed.
The incident has renewed concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Kaduna State, particularly the persistent activities of kidnappers and the growing financial burden placed on families seeking the release of abducted relatives.
The family is appealing for urgent government intervention to ensure the safe return of the two boys after nine weeks in captivity.
