
Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully repelled an attack by suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group on a military base in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, October 7, when the terrorists, said to be in large numbers and riding over 100 motorcycles, stormed the Forward Operating Base with assorted weapons, including General Purpose Machine Guns and Rocket-Propelled Grenades.
The troops responded swiftly, forcing the attackers to retreat and abandon some weapons and equipment.
According to the military, subsequent pursuit operations led to the recovery of 17 motorcycles, a PKT machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and a communication device.

The Joint Task Force said the recovery represents a significant setback to the terrorists’ operational capability in the area.
Military authorities added that troops remain in control of the area, while clearance and patrol operations continue to track down fleeing members of the group.
