Nine passengers have died in a fatal road accident along the JBD/Ore route in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The crash occurred around 4:55 p.m. in the Bethel area and involved a white Toyota Hiace bus operated by Delta Line and a white Sino truck belonging to Bill Gas Solution Ltd.
The victims, comprising three men and six women, reportedly died at the scene of the accident.
The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, Afolabi Odunsi, confirmed the incident and said preliminary findings identified speeding as the probable cause of the crash.
He explained that the accident happened while it was raining, leaving the road surface wet and creating more challenging driving conditions.
According to him, rescue personnel arrived at the scene around 4:58 p.m., just minutes after receiving the distress call.
The bodies of the deceased were evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital morgue in Ijebu-Ode, while the vehicles were towed to Ilese Police Station by police officers.

The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, sympathised with the families of the victims and urged motorists to make road safety a priority.
He particularly advised commercial drivers to reduce their speed during rainfall, obey speed limits and maintain safe distances from other vehicles.
Ogunjobi warned that speeding on wet roads increases the risk of crashes because reduced tyre grip and visibility can make it more difficult to control a vehicle or stop safely.
