
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected gunrunners and recovered a locally fabricated Dane gun from them.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the State Intelligence Department in Cham, Gombe State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the development on Thursday, saying the suspects were apprehended while allegedly engaging in an illegal firearms transaction.
The suspects were identified as 54-year-old Commander Barde from Zakawon Village in Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State and 51-year-old Abdullahi Musa from Ga’anda in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the police spokesperson, one locally fabricated Dane gun was recovered from the suspects and retained as an exhibit.
Nguroje said preliminary investigations indicated that the two suspects had allegedly been involved in illegal arms dealing for some time.
He added that the suspects reportedly confessed that the transaction leading to their arrest was not their first involvement in illegal firearms dealings.
The police said investigations are ongoing to uncover further details about their activities and identify possible links to other individuals involved in the illegal arms trade.
