The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man, Abdullahi Abubakar, over the alleged kidnapping of a 16-year-old boy, Usman Dauda, in Shira Local Government Area of the state.
The teenager was reportedly abducted from Misau town and taken to Bangala Village on September 28, 2026. Police said the suspect allegedly intended to transport him to Kano for reasons that are yet to be established.
Following a distress report from the boy’s father, police detectives moved in and rescued the teenager unhurt. He was subsequently taken to General Hospital Yana for medical examination.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly confined the teenager in his room for a day without proper feeding.
In separate operations, police also arrested five suspects allegedly linked to criminal conspiracy, trespass, housebreaking, mischief and theft in Bauchi. Stolen items were reportedly recovered from the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
