A food company identified as Global Food Initiative has reportedly shut down its Osogbo outlet after collecting millions of naira from customers who paid in advance for food items sold at unusually cheap prices.
The company reportedly began operations around the Odi-Olowo area of Osogbo, Osun State, distributing flyers advertising discounted prices for items including rice, cooking oil, spaghetti, semovita, noodles and beverages.
Customers were instructed to pay ahead and return seven days later to collect their orders. Some early customers reportedly received their purchases, encouraging more residents and wholesalers to patronise the business with larger sums.
However, several customers who waited beyond the stipulated seven days reportedly became worried and visited the company’s stated address, only to find the premises empty and shut.

Many affected customers reportedly gathered at the location, with some claiming they had paid millions of naira for the food packages. The exact amount allegedly collected has not been independently verified.
The operators and phone numbers provided by the company were reportedly unreachable, increasing concerns among the affected customers.
Police officers were reportedly deployed to the area to maintain order as customers called for an investigation and recovery of their money.
The incident has left many residents questioning how the company was able to attract customers with significantly lower-than-market prices before suddenly disappearing.
