The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to address outstanding welfare and professional concerns or risk facing industrial action.
The ultimatum was issued during NARD’s 46th Annual General Meeting in Calabar, Cross River State.
The doctors are demanding action on remuneration, career progression, professional allowances, excessive workload, manpower shortages and improved welfare.

NARD also called for compensation for doctors handling additional duties due to staff shortages, stronger protection for health workers against attacks and urgent measures to address the continued migration of medical professionals from Nigeria.
The association urged the Federal Government and state governments to implement existing agreements and welfare policies before the deadline expires.
