Eight people reportedly survived a serious multiple-vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday at Ikpoba Hill along Murtala Muhammed Way in Benin City, Edo State.
The crash involved six vehicles, including a tanker reportedly loaded with groundnut oil.
According to reports, the tanker developed brake failure while coming down the hill from the Ikpoba Hill/Ramat Park axis. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with other vehicles.
Five of the eight people involved in the accident sustained various injuries, while three others were said to have escaped without injuries.
The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Preye Ezekiel Bedford, confirmed the incident and said no life was lost.
An eyewitness, Ken Omusi, attributed the crash to brake failure. He said the tanker driver tried to regain control but lost control after hitting a pothole around the Ikpoba River Bridge.

The tanker reportedly crossed into another lane and struck several vehicles, leading to a chain collision.
Another eyewitness, Kayode Folorunsho Ogedengbe, said the tanker first crashed into a Toyota Corolla, which then collided with another vehicle.
He said six vehicles, including the tanker and an Eco bus, were damaged, with some victims reportedly trapped beneath the wrecked vehicles before they were rescued.
The injured victims were taken to hospital for treatment, while emergency personnel from the Edo State Emergency Management Agency, FRSC, police and fire service responded to the scene.
The accident also caused significant traffic disruption as motorists struggled to pass through the affected section of the road.
