
The children of the brother-in-law of Gurara TV Chief Executive Officer, Ernest Thyek Maidawa, have reportedly spent about two weeks in the custody of suspected kidnappers in Kaduna State.
The victims were abducted from their residence in the Rimi area of Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
Family sources said the children have been in captivity for about 14 days, while efforts to secure their release are ongoing.
The suspected kidnappers reportedly contacted the family and demanded N100 million as rans The victims’ father is an Air Force personnel.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government and security agencies have not publicly provided details about the incident or the whereabouts of the victims.
The prolonged captivity has reportedly heightened concerns among the victims’ relatives and residents of the affected community.
Maidawa, who is contesting the 2027 House of Representatives election for Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, has reportedly refrained from giving further details about the situation, apparently because of concerns for the victims’ safety.
Residents have called for intensified security operations in vulnerable communities and urged authorities to work towards securing the safe release of the children.
