The Kano State Hisbah Board has officially banned the downloading and distribution of movies through mobile phones across all 44 local government areas of the state.
The directive was announced by the Deputy Commander General of the board, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, in a statement circulated on Thursday via WhatsApp. According to him, the move is part of efforts to uphold public morality and reinforce Islamic values within the state.
Aminuddeen explained that the decision followed growing concerns and complaints about the activities of individuals involved in the mobile movie business, particularly those distributing pornographic and other offensive video content deemed contrary to Islamic teachings and the cultural values of Kano State.
“The Hisbah Board has banned downloading and distribution of movies through mobile phones across the 44 local government areas,” he stated.
He further disclosed that Hisbah personnel have been deployed to ensure strict compliance with the directive through routine patrols and enforcement operations.

“Anyone found violating the directive will face legal action in accordance with the laws of Kano State,” Aminuddeen warned.
The board also urged those affected by the ban to seek alternative and lawful means of livelihood, emphasizing that the measure is aimed at protecting young people from exposure to harmful content.
According to the Deputy Commander General, the rising cases of moral decadence among youths have been linked to the consumption of indecent films and videos.
The Kano State Hisbah Board, known for enforcing Sharia-related regulations, has in recent years introduced several policies targeting activities and content considered inconsistent with the state’s religious and cultural norms.
This latest directive adds to ongoing efforts by the board to promote discipline, preserve societal values, and safeguard the moral fabric of the community.
