
Residents of Ondo community in Ugboju, located within Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, were thrown into panic on Tuesday morning following a fresh attack by suspected armed herdsmen.
According to reports, the attackers stormed the community in the early hours, opening fire indiscriminately and forcing residents to abandon their homes in search of safety.
A community indigene and Labour Party House of Assembly candidate for the 2027 elections, Hon. Jimmy Nart, confirmed that the assault was ongoing at the time the report was filed.
In a distress message, he alerted residents, stating that armed attackers had invaded the area and urged people to take precautionary measures.

This latest incident comes less than 48 hours after another deadly invasion in Otukpo-Nobi, a nearby community in the same local government area, where over 18 persons were reportedly killed.
As of the time of this report, the number of casualties from the current attack remains unconfirmed.
Efforts to get an official response from the Benue State Police Command proved unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer did not respond to calls or messages.
Meanwhile, residents say tension remains high, with many families still fleeing the area over fears of further violence.
