
Local vigilantes in Zamfara State have reportedly killed the younger brother of a notorious bandit leader during a fierce gun battle in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
The deceased, identified as Alhaji Tukur, was said to be the younger brother of the infamous bandit kingpin, Kachalla Shehu Bagiwaye.
According to security sources, the confrontation occurred when armed bandits launched an early morning attack on Dogon Kade community. Vigilante members swiftly mobilized and engaged the attackers in a gunfight, successfully repelling the assault.

Reports indicate that several bandits were killed during the exchange of gunfire, with Alhaji Tukur among those who lost their lives. Local sources described the operation as a significant setback for the criminal group operating in the area.
Security analyst Bakatsine, who shared details of the incident, said the vigilantes prevented the attackers from overrunning the community and commended their determination in defending residents against recurring bandit attacks.
The latest development comes amid ongoing efforts by local security volunteers and government-backed forces to curb banditry across parts of Zamfara State, where armed groups have continued to terrorize rural communities through attacks, kidnappings and other violent crimes.
Residents have expressed hope that the operation will weaken the activities of the criminal network and improve security in the affected communities.
