
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested no fewer than 202 suspects during a large-scale raid targeting criminal hideouts in Asaba, the state capital.
The operation, described as intelligence-driven, led to the arrest of 102 males and 100 females.
Those apprehended were reportedly involved in offences ranging from operating illegal brothels to the possession and distribution of suspected illicit drugs, along with other related criminal activities.
The raid, which took place on Saturday, also resulted in the impoundment of several vehicles.
According to police sources, five cars, 10 tricycles, and 10 motorcycles were seized for violating existing traffic regulations, including restrictions on tricycle operations and the ban on motorcycles in certain areas of the state.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated that the exercise was carried out under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, alongside other officers.

He explained that the operation was based on credible intelligence gathered by the State Intelligence Department, which identified key locations being used for criminal activities.
“The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on crime and rid the state of criminal elements,” Edafe said.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained enforcement and intelligence-led policing.
He assured residents that proactive measures would continue to be implemented to enhance public safety.
The police further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and useful information that could aid in preventing crime.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
