The suspects reportedly abandoned 27 jerrycans containing about 675 litres of petrol and escaped into nearby bushes after noticing the approaching troops. No arrests were made during the operation.
Security sources said the recovered fuel was believed to have been destined for terrorist groups to support their activities. The seized petrol has since been taken into the custody of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion for further investigation and other necessary actions.
The interception forms part of the military’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the logistics network of terrorist groups by preventing them from accessing fuel and other essential supplies needed to sustain their operations.
