
The Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued 11 individuals who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Ogbido Community, Iyahmo, located in Edo North.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, the victims were kidnapped while working on their farms. The incident triggered a distress call, prompting an immediate response from security operatives.
The Divisional Police Officer of Iyahmo Division, alongside local vigilantes and hunters, launched a coordinated rescue operation within the surrounding forest area on Thursday evening at about 8:20 p.m.
During the operation, the rescue team encountered the kidnappers, leading to a gun duel. Overpowered by the superior firepower and tactical coordination of the security team, the assailants abandoned the victims and fled into the forest.

All 11 victims comprising nine males and two females were rescued unharmed.
They were subsequently taken to a medical facility for examination and have since been reunited with their families.
The police spokesperson further assured that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents in the state.
