
Ivory Coast striker Elye Wahi has been granted permission to travel to Canada for his country’s crucial World Cup fixture against Germany, despite being under investigation over alleged betting-related offences.
The 23-year-old forward had initially faced uncertainty regarding his participation after reports suggested he might be unable to secure the necessary travel clearance.
However, the Ivorian Football Federation confirmed in an updated statement that all required authorisations had now been obtained, allowing Wahi to join the squad.
Wahi recently featured in Ivory Coast’s 1-0 victory over Ecuador in Philadelphia and remains a key figure for the Elephants as they prepare for their second group-stage match in Toronto.
The development comes amid an ongoing investigation by French authorities into suspected spot-fixing activities.

Reports indicate that an unusually high volume of bets was placed on Wahi receiving a yellow card during a French Ligue 1 match on May 17, when he was playing for OGC Nice. The match ended goalless, with Wahi booked during the encounter.
French prosecutors have confirmed that a 23-year-old professional footballer was arrested in May as part of inquiries into alleged organised fraud, sports corruption, money laundering, and receiving stolen goods.
The player was later released without charges, and investigations remain ongoing.
