The Ogun State Police Command has dismantled multiple criminal networks across Abeokuta, Wasimi, and Ibafo, arresting six suspects and recovering firearms, ammunition, generators, and mobile phones during intelligence-driven operations.
According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the coordinated raids were carried out by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, and operatives of the Ibafo Division.
The operations targeted suspects involved in armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, theft, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property.
Those arrested include Afisu Awesu, Bala Aminu, Moruf Sodiq (also known as “Okiki”), Mumuni Amodu (“Stone”), Abayomi John (“Ibafo”), and Adeboye Ojesina.
Recovered items include one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, five generators, and nine Android mobile phones suspected to be stolen.
One of the breakthroughs came after operatives acting on intelligence on May 30 arrested Moruf Sodiq, believed to be a key figure in a generator theft syndicate operating in Abeokuta and surrounding communities.

The police further revealed that investigations are ongoing to track fleeing suspects and dismantle remaining members of the criminal networks.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained operations against criminal elements across the state.
He assured residents of continued efforts to ensure safety and security across Ogun State.
