Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have arrested three suspects accused of vandalising government property while operating from an abandoned primary school in Ovia North East Local Government Area.
The Deputy Commandant in charge of operations, Richard Balogun, said the suspects were apprehended at about 7:06 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, during an operation by the Oluku command of the Corps. He identified them as Daniel Idong, 29, from Cross River State, and Destiny Idahosa, 18, and Bright Efosa, 25, both from Edo State.

Balogun told journalists in Benin City that preliminary investigations showed the men were involved in vandalism, armed robbery, and criminal trespass. They were allegedly occupying the premises of Oluku Primary School illegally and using it as a hideout.
He described the use of a public school by criminals as disturbing and a threat to public safety. Balogun said security agencies will continue to clamp down on such activities across the state. He added that he had recently visited schools in the area to sensitise residents and students against vandalism of government property.
The suspects are being investigated for acts capable of causing a breach of public peace and have been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer at Ekiadolor Police Division for further investigation and prosecution. One of the suspects, Destiny Idahosa, reportedly confessed to stealing a mobile phone from a commercial bus driver.
