The air component of Operation Hadin Kai has killed no fewer than 27 terrorists in precision air strikes on insurgent hideouts in the Tumbuns area of Borno State.
The Nigerian Army said on Sunday that 12 insurgents were eliminated in an air strike on Dawoshe in Kukawa Local Government Area. Another 15 terrorists were killed in a separate strike at Metele in Guzamala LGA. The strikes were part of a series of intelligence-led operations carried out across the country over the weekend.
Ground troops also recorded significant gains during the operations. In Borno, soldiers apprehended a suspected terrorist along the Mandara Girau Sabon Gari axis in Biu LGA and recovered food items, communication devices, blankets, herbicides and batteries believed to be destined for insurgents. Near Kareto, troops foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued six civilians, three men and three women, without injury.

Similar operations in Plateau, Nasarawa, Akwa Ibom and the Federal Capital Territory led to more arrests and recoveries. In Plateau, troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested a suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler in Bokkos LGA, recovering ammunition, an AK-47 magazine, a laptop and military-pattern clothing. Four suspected criminals were also arrested in Jos LGA with a locally made pistol and ammunition.
In Nasarawa, two kidnap victims were rescued after their captors fled on sighting troops. A follow-up raid uncovered a criminal hideout where security forces recovered a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridges, communication devices, foreign and local currencies, and N1.8 million suspected to be proceeds of crime. In the FCT, troops intercepted two suspected carjackers along the Abuja-Lokoja highway and recovered a stolen Mercedes-Benz E350.
In Akwa Ibom, troops conducting anti-crude oil theft operations recovered about 325 litres of suspected stolen Automotive Gas Oil concealed in sacks in Ikot Abasi LGA. The products have been handed over to the appropriate authorities.
The military said the weekend operations led to the arrest of 10 suspected criminals, rescue of eight kidnap victims, and recovery of arms, ammunition, stolen vehicles and other items as troops intensify the fight against terrorism and banditry nationwide.
