
A kidnap victim has escaped captivity after a fierce gun battle between police operatives and armed bandits in Zamfara State.
The incident happened in the Bukuyum and Anka axis, areas that have recorded repeated bandit attacks in recent months. Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the details in a post on X on Thursday.
According to Makama, the victim was abducted from Dansadau community in Maru Local Government Area and taken to a hideout. Security forces later launched an operation in the area, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire with the criminals.

The victim and a friend seized the opportunity during the chaos and fled from their captors. Both are now safe, the source said.
Security sources said efforts are ongoing to reunite the rescued victim with his family. Authorities have also contacted the Divisional Police Officer in Dansadau to help locate the victims’ relatives and ensure their safe return.
