
Residents of Ebem Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State have been thrown into deep mourning following the tragic deaths of two indigenes in separate road accidents.
The victims, identified as Mr. Thompson Kalu and Uma Orji, reportedly lost their lives in incidents that occurred between Sunday night and Monday morning.
According to sources within the
community, the first tragedy happened on Sunday night when a truck, allegedly operating without functional headlamps, rammed into Mr. Kalu, who was riding a motorcycle. He sustained severe head injuries and was
pronounced dead shortly after.
In a separate incident on Monday morning, Uma Orji, popularly known as “Ome Ego,” died in a lone accident after the truck he was traveling in reportedly lost control and crashed, fatally trapping him.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Federal Road Safety Corps nor the Nigerian Police Force had issued an official statement regarding the incidents.
Reacting to the development, the paramount ruler of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, Ezie Ukoha Kalu, alongside the Ezie-in-Council and the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU), described the incidents as shocking and deeply tragic.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of EODU, Ifeanyi Okali, the community expressed profound grief over the loss, noting that both men were responsible and hardworking individuals committed to supporting their families and contributing positively to society.
The statement added that their sudden deaths have left a painful void in the community, as residents continue to mourn the loss of two promising sons.
