Rapper Illbliss has called on Nigerians to be more welcoming to non-indigenes and reject comments that push people out of the states where they live and work.
Speaking on the Outside The Box podcast, the ‘Aiye Po Gan’ crooner used the Igbo community in Lagos as an example of how non-indigenous residents drive development. He said Igbos have made significant contributions to Lagos through trade and commerce, despite not being indigenes of the state.
Illbliss expressed frustration that Nigeria is still grappling with tribalism and religious bigotry decades after independence. He questioned the impact of divisive remarks like “If you’re not from Lagos State, go back to your state.”

“The Igbos have given a lot to the Lagos economy. I wonder how this town will be if you told every Igbo man to leave,” he said. “We have no business not being accommodating of each other. But sadly, we are still plagued by tribalism, ethnic and religious divides.”
The rapper added that Nigeria’s persistent divisions sometimes make him question whether the country should have remained a single entity.
His comments add to ongoing national conversations about unity, inclusion, and the economic role of migrant communities across Nigeria.
